10 Bestselling Crochet Books for Crochet Lovers

I do love crochet, but I’m definitely what you’d call an amateur and I have a lot to learn! I thought I’d put together a bit of a resource and inspiration post for you today with this list of bestselling crochet books from Amazon. I would really love some of these myself – perhaps you would too – or maybe you know someone that one of these would make a perfect gift for.

Each of these books are currently in the top 20 bestsellers from the crochet category on Amazon. I’ve selected the ones I personally think are great!

Take a look at these excellent crochet books below:

1. A to Z of Crochet: The Ultimate Guide for the Beginner to the Advanced Crocheter by Martingale

This is the no.1 bestselling book on Amazon in the Crochet category. Aimed at beginners, right through to advanced crocheters, this is a must-have resource that provides everything there is to know about different crocheting techniques. The book is complete with step by step instructions and more than 1,000 close-up photos of crochet stitches in action. The lucky owner of this book will be able to fix their crochet mistakes with ease, learn how to shape garments and find the answer to any of their crocheting questions!

Get the A-Z of Crochet now – find it on Amazon.com for $16.62 and Amazon.co.uk for £22.99

2. Crochet Stitch Dictionary by Sarah Hazell

Another book which seems to be great for beginner and advanced crocheters, Crochet Stitch Dictionary includes instructions on how to do 200 different crochet stitches, including basic stitches, fans and shells, bobbles & clusters, post stitches, cable stitches and more. As my own crochet stitch repertoire is limited to chain stitch, single crochet and double crochet, I definitely didn’t know that there are actually that many crochet stitches out there! Each stitch technique comes with written, chartered and step-by-step photo instructions.

Get Crochet Stitch Dictionary now – find it on Amazon.com for $14.68 and Amazon.co.uk for £14.13

3. Star Wars Crochet (Crochet Kits) by Lucy Collin

From a galaxy far, far away, there are 12 projects to crochet for Star Wars fans everywhere! This unique crochet book comes complete with step-by-step instructions for crocheting the main characters from Star Wars – and enough materials to make Yoda and a Stormtrooper – what an amazing gift this would make for someone! This book has tons of great reviews, so if you love crochet and Star Wars (or know someone that does), this book could be for you.

Get Star Wars Crochet now – find it on Amazon.com for $18.60 and Amazon.co.uk for £14.92

4. The Complete Book of Crochet Stitch Designs by Linda P. Schapper

Billed as a must-have reference book for crocheters, The Complete Book of Crochet Stitch Designs features a whopping 500 designs, ranging from traditional patterns to original motifs. From reading the many reviews of this book, it seems to be a useful resource. The swatches are made up in the same yarn, so that crocheters can easily see the differences between patterns. Each design comes with a photo, a diagram and written instructions.

Get The Complete Book of Crochet Stitch Designs now – find it on Amazon.com for $14.56 and Amazon.co.uk for £13.48

5. Unexpected Afghans: Innovative Crochet Designs with Traditional Techniques by Robyn Chachula

This looks like a crochet book with a difference… Unexpected Afghans features 29 creative and contemporary-looking afghans using modern crocheting techniques, vibrant yarns and interesting patterns. The projects in this book start out beginner-friendly and then move towards more advanced crochet work. Sounds great for someone who wants to build their crochet skills! (Moi!) Definitely adding this one to my own wish list!

Get Unexpected Afghans now – find it on Amazon.com for $14.71 and Amazon.co.uk for £11.27

6. Crochet One-Skein Wonders: 101 Projects from Crocheters around the World

This book has lots of great reviews – and with 101 exciting crochet projects, it’s not hard to wonder why. Projects include crochet jewellery, dresses, hats, scarves, bags and home decor items – and each one uses just one skein of yarn. Edited by Edie Eckman and Judith Durant.

7. Edward’s Menagerie by Kerry Lord

If you love crocheting toys, you’ll love Edward’s Menagerie – this is a beautiful collection of patterns for over 40 soft and snuggly toy animals. Each project is made using simple crochet techniques and comes with step by step instructions, so that even complete beginners can get going right away. Universal patterns are included for each toy, so that they can be made in four different sizes. The author promises that these toys, made with a supersoft yarn, will become your new best friends – and looking at the cover of this book, I can believe her!

8. Crochet Ever After: 18 Crochet Projects Inspired by Classic Fairy Tales by Brenda K.B. Anderson

According to the (excellent) reviews for this book, this is for an experienced crocheter with a mind of steel, able to tackle some challenging instructions. For those lucky crocheters, they can whip up a collection of 18 fairy-tale inspired crochet projects incorporating heroines, fairy princesses, witches and big bad wolves. To give you an idea of what type of crochet projects you can expect to make, imagine Little Red’s hood with integrated infinity scarf and the Evil Queen with a Mirror, Mirror on the Go makeup case. Excited about this one? Me too!

9. The Big Book of Granny Squares by Tracey Lord

Granny squares – you can never get enough of them, especially when you’re starting out in crochet. This is apparently the biggest collection of crochet motifs. Period. In this book, crocheters can enjoy creating 365 unique squares with step by step instructions and swatches. A go-to reference that crocheters will want to reach for again and again!

Get The Big Book of Granny Squares now – find it on Amazon.com for $20.21 and Amazon.co.uk from £46.04

10. The Big Book of Little Amigurumi by Ana Paula Rimoli

If Amigurumi is your thing, this book by Ana Paula Rimoli could be perfect for you – the reviews are mostly 5* thanks to the 72 beautiful and easy to follow crochet patterns that are included. However, if you own some of her other books already, there is a chance that you may have a few of these patterns already. So this book is a good one to get if you’re new to the author’s work!

Finally…

I hope you find this list of bestselling crochet books useful. Prices are correct at the time of publishing, although some may vary slightly based on currency rates. Have you read any of these yet, or would you like to? If you know of any other great crochet books that I can check out and add to this list, please let me know in the comments below!

Hi Hannah, thanks for stopping by and commenting! Yes these were in numerical order at the time of writing the post but they may have shifted around a little by now, especially if new books have been published. Either way though, these have all made it to the top 10, which means they are all a popular choice!

Hi all! It's been a very long time since I've post Hi all! It's been a very long time since I've posted here. I've been working on a new venture - surface pattern design. This is my first attempt at a seamless pattern. It's part of a collection I'm working on called 'Mum's Garden'. Mum loved hedgehogs, and they always frequented her garden to enjoy the food she put out for them. 😍 Honest opinions! What do you think? Could this work for wrapping paper, notebook covers, etc? Thanks for looking! #surfacepatterndesign #creativebusiness #creativeentrepreneur #graphicdesign #digitalart #hedgehogs #patterns #seamlesspattern
