I have a fun DIY jewellery-making project for you today and it’s so easy to make, that anyone could do it! That’s because this silver beaded bangle is made using just a few materials contained in a ready-made kit from Jewellery Maker, who provided me with a sample so that I could review it.
The beaded bangle kit arrived in an attractive little box complete with instructions and three materials – 2 x 7.5cm diameter copper rings, 5m x 0.6mm copper wire and 50 x 8mm silver tone round beads. The only extra things I needed to make this bracelet were tools – flat nose pliers and wire cutters which I already had in my beading kit!
I started off by just following the instructions included. I used the wire to wrap the first couple of beads around the bangle rings as directed, trimming off excess wire with my wire cutters.
The instructions were very clear and explained how to make the bangle look tidy by making sure the beads were placed securely next to each other, so that they were touching.
Once I’d wire wrapped the beads all the way around the bangle, I found that there were quite a few spare beads leftover in the kit and much more than I needed in terms of wire for wrapping – handy! I found that there were no funny-looking gaps in between the beads, they all fit into place perfectly.
I thought this kit was brilliant and it would make a lovely gift for someone who is interested in getting started in jewellery-making. At a price of just £8.95, I think it’s well worth the money. The only slight criticism I would have of this kit is that the bangle rings were too big for my wrist, although I would imagine that this is a standard size. All in all, a good kit to work with and a nice introduction to working with wire!
