Sometimes, it can be difficult to know what sort of gift to get for that special little person in your life. Especially in today’s world, where technology is on tap and just about every seven year old that I know has a ‘LeapPad’!
However, I’ve made a few gifts to order for children over the last few years and this Rainbow Bracelet piece has been a really popular project. Children love bright colours and something personalised with their name on it seems to go down a treat!
This bracelet is really easy to make too. You’ll need the following:
- Memory wire (small size)
- Round nose pliers
- Beading wire cutters
- Assortment of brightly coloured 10mm wooden round beads
- Assortment of brightly coloured 5mm wooden spacer beads
- Assortment of silver coloured 8mm acrylic alphabet letter beads
Step 1
To start, measure approx. 4 coils of memory wire and cut it with the wire cutters.
Step 2
Use the round nose pliers to form a small loop at one end (to stop the beads falling off when threading them on).
Step 3
Begin threading on the round wooden beads alternating each one with a wooden spacer bead.
Step 4
Stop threading on the coloured beads when you get to around one third of the way through the memory wire. Next thread on the alphabet letter beads of your choice to spell out your little one’s name! Once this is done, continue threading on the round and spacer wooden beads alternately until there is around 20mm of memory wire remaining.
Step 5
Form another loop at this end of the bracelet with the round nose pliers. If there is any excess wire, just trim it with the wire cutters. This finishes off the Rainbow Bracelet project. You can add charms onto each end of the bracelet, attaching them to the loops you’ve made if you wish.
