I have a thing about washi tape. I love that you can get it in all sorts of designs and colours and use it to decorate all sorts of things! For this post, I decided to use some of my favourite pink glitter washi tape to create a leaf design for a wooden bangle. This project is so easy, anyone can do it!
You’ll need the following materials:
- Wooden bangle
- Pink glitter washi tape
- Silver acrylic paint (suitable for wood)
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
Step 1
The first thing to do is paint your wooden bangle in the colour of your choice. I used silver because I thought it would go really well with the pink washi tape. I simply brushed on the paint, coating the inside of the bangle first, before painting the outside.
I only needed to cover the wooden bangle once with the paint – you may need two coats if you decide to use a lighter colour though.
Step 2
Once the paint on the wooden bangle has dried, cut several leaf shapes out of the washi tape with scissors. You don’t have to be precise about this, different shaped leaves look pretty good!
However, if you do want to achieve exactly the same size and style of leaf shape, you might want to check out this mini paper punch with leaf design. I’m adding this and plenty of others to my Christmas wish list this year as I’m sure they’ll come in handy for various craft projects!
Step 3
Once you’ve cut out your leaf shapes, begin sticking them onto your bangle in a pretty pattern. You could use glue here if you’re worried about the washi tape becoming “unsticky” over time, but I didn’t think that was necessary for my own bangle.
That’s all there is to it! Wear your bangle with whatever outfit you see fit and bask in the knowledge that you’ve just made yourself a beautiful piece of jewellery – incorporating washi tape no less!
